Prince Edward Island Specialty Foods was incorporated in 2003 by existing PEI specialty food processors with complimentary lines of products. Partners are Cackleberry Farms Ltd., Prince Edward Island Spice Merchants and The PEI Co. Store. We develop and process fresh Island flavours in the high quality tradition of small businesses devoted to customers who enjoy the true tastes of natural products.
Products offered include fruit spreads, flavoured honeys, fruit syrups, antipasto, gourmet spice blends, dips, dressings, sea salt, jellies, apple butters, preserves and similar specialty foods.
We hope you enjoy our web site and find it simple to use.
Karen and Doug Murray
Prince Edward Spice Merchants was formed in 1996 by Karen with lots of encouragement from family. A year earlier Karen, fueled by memories of conversations with a favourite uncle who had been in the spice business, began to think about possibilities with spices. Her niche evolved into quality seasoning blends focused at the tourism and gourmet markets. After a year and a half of research and recipe development, Prince Edward Island Spice Merchants was launched at an Island trade show with just four very special blends. Her daughter, son and husband helped make that show a huge success and they had a lot of fun doing it as a family.
"The kids" are now pursuing careers of their own but they can still be counted on to help with special projects. Karen's husband Doug is now semi-retired and contributes to the production and record-keeping enabling Karen to focus upon product development and marketing. The product line continues to grow, yet Karen and Doug like the idea of a small company that offers tantalizing products made with the highest quality ingredients available.

Are fresh food products, made from all natural ingredients that taste like nature intended important to you and your family? Does the idea of a fun filled day under a beautiful Prince Edward Island sun sound like a good idea? Whether it is one of our fruit spreads, honeys, jellies, butters, syrups, spiced apples, or a day at our farm picking fruit and having fun with the whole family, we here at Cackleberry are working to give you PEI's "berry" best.
Established in 1982, Cackleberry Farms is a 130 acre farm located on the banks of the Grand River in beautiful Prince Edward Island.
Owned and operated by Alan and Maureen Marsden and family, the farm site is on the magnificent Malpeque Bay, where the vista sets the stage for PEI's "berry" best in jellies, jams, preserves, and outdoor fun.
